Greedy Goose Sculpture Project Starts

The project to make a spectacular feature sculpture for The Greedy Goose, Moreton-in-Marsh, has started.

The Sculptress JOEL has been asked to design a life sized Bronze Goose statue that will delight visitors and help establish the Greedy Goose as a centre of excellence, enjoyable experience and fun.

The project starts with consultation and research...JOEL has previously been commissioned to make portraits of Swans and Red Breasted Geese - now she has started research into the origins and  characteristics of British Domestic Geese.

"It is knowing and achieving the accuracy in detail that helps bring life into a sculpture ....I have already learnt that in our home bred geese the male Goose, called the Gander, is often white with lovely blue eyes ....and all the females have grey feathers with some white features...These grey feathers help me see the patterns in all the different feathers of the wings and tail."
